Montana law forbids anonymous personal political donations. I need to report to the state Commissioner for Political Practices (COPP) the following information for each donation:
- Full name and address of the donor
- Donor’s job description (has to be somewhat specific, “consultant” is not enough, it needs to be something like “solar power consultant”), “retired” is OK.
- Employer (“NA” is OK for those who are “retired”)
Montana law also sets the limit for the amount that can be donated by one individual to a house district candidate at $180 per election.
I appreciate your patience in dealing with the above. I have read that learning new information/systems helps prevent dementia. I remind myself of this frequently as I struggle to get up to speed with these details, also hoping to stay out of jail.
